Hungry Hawk - San Pasqual Valley's Hidden Gem

When one thinks of Escondido, they don't think of wineries. However, they should - as Escondido is home to over 16 wineries, and counting. A handful of these locally owned gems are in the picturesque San Pasqual Valley, just minutes from Downtown Escondido and the San Diego Wild Animal Park (will never be the Safari Park for me).

Hungry Hawk Winery is a small, limited production winery tucked back in the hills, overlooking the beautiful San Pasqual Valley. From their charming patio and tasting room, one can enjoy varietals from France, Italy, and Spain. This hidden gem releases over 15 different wines from the estate, many of them award winning.

Having just visited this past weekend, I enjoyed the Red Flight - and I loved every wine I tasted, bringing home a bottle of the 2018 Estate Recon Red, which is a blend of Grenache, Syrah Noir, Petite Sirah, and Mourvedre.
